Online courses across multiple areas of applied psychology (psychology of gender, industrial and organizational psychology, forensic psychology, health psychology, and community psychology) demonstrate the multiple ways in which psychological research can be used to inform and improve outcomes across broad swaths of society. A course in ethics, along with focused content on ethics, diversity, and culture, encourages students to think critically about the role and impact of applied practice.
Students who graduate with this major are prepared for professional positions that call for a clear understanding of the role of psychological research in daily life; students who are considering graduate study at the master’s level in applied fields may also find this major and appropriate first step.
Year-round admission means you can enroll at any time and complete your coursework whenever and wherever suits you best. Plus, your professional work experience will be considered for academic credit. At Wesleyan, financial aid is available, there are no hidden costs, and the technology requirements are minimal. Every student has dedicated support from award winning faculty and the tutoring center plus full access to Willet Library.
The applied psychology degree prepares students for a profession and a career, while providing for immediate employment. Students in the applied psychology major are well prepared to enter graduate study at the master’s level in fields with a strong emphasis on the application of psychology.
Earn a Master’s degree in an additional 12-18 months, saving both time and money. Students can take up to 6 credit hours in one of our graduate programs, while still enrolled as an undergraduate student.
