Faculty

The majority of full-time faculty hold the highest degrees in their fields. A low student-to-faculty ratio guarantees students are known by more than a number. Most classes have less than 20 students. There are no big lecture halls at Wesleyan. To encourage discussion, classes are taught seminar style by professors, not by teaching assistants. Meet our Faculty.

History

Founded in 1836, Wesleyan was the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women. Every year since then, Wesleyan women have been making history. We take our role as a pioneer in women’s education seriously. Today, we continue to educate women to do the extraordinary in their professions and in service to their communities. At Wesleyan, women are expected to think, to explore, and to dream big. It’s an environment where no student will ever be told that she can’t do something because it’s too hard. Find out more about Wesleyan's long history of excellence.

Student Life

Wesleyan is a four-year residential college and most traditional students live on campus. We believe residence hall living provides a healthy environment for students to grow socially and intellectually. Students may try out for any of Wesleyan’s six USA South Athletic Conference, NCAA Division III athletic teams - basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, track, and volleyball - our award-winning IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association)/IDA (Intercollegiate Dressage Association) equestrian team, or join any of our many clubs and organizations.

Degree Programs

The acceptance rate of Wesleyan students into medical, law, business, and other graduate programs is exemplary. We offer the bachelor of arts degree plus the bachelor of science in nursing degree (BSN). Click here to learn about our academic programs and pre-professional concentrations. Students also have the option to self-design their own major by combining two or more interdisciplinary major programs. Because Wesleyan students are advised individually by faculty mentors, a large number of students choose to double major and some even triple major.

Wesleyan offers women three accelerated online degree programs: business, accounting, and applied psychology.

Wesleyan's five graduate programs enroll both men and women — Master of Business AdministrationMaster of Education in Elementary EducationMaster of Arts in Industrial-Organizational PsychologyMaster of Science in Nonprofit Management, and the Master of Music. To review the programs offered at Wesleyan College sorted by CIP code (pdf file).

Affordability

Wesleyan offers a strong merit scholarship program and is recognized as one of the nation’s most affordable selective colleges. Because we are committed to helping every qualified young woman afford a Wesleyan education, we set our tuition well below that of most private colleges. In fact, according to the editors of USA TODAY and The Princeton Review, Wesleyan is among the nation’s Best Value Private Colleges because of our low cost of attendance and near-perfect academic ratings. Between scholarships, grants, loans, and student employment, Wesleyan's cost of tuition can be much lower than many public schools. THERE IS NO INCREASE IN TUITION FOR OUT OF STATE STUDENTS.

Campus

Our beautiful 200-acre wooded campus, along with historically significant buildings, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as the Wesleyan College Historic District. Wesleyan is nestled in a northern suburb of Macon, about ninety minutes south of Atlanta. Beautiful, white-columned Georgian-styled buildings surround a classic quadrangle that plays host to many college events. Our 150-year-old trees are a beautiful contrast to our recently renovated residence halls; multi-million-dollar athletic, wellness, and equestrian facilities; and multi lab science center.
