Wesleyan's newly re-designed MEd learner-centered program focuses on play, creativity, nature smart activities, and oral story telling. Students progress through the program in highly selective cohorts, working in teams along the way to create unique personal and professional support structures that augment the learning process.

 

The Art of Inquiry

Participants will be introduced to the text “The Art of Inquiry,” familiarized with the various requirements and expectations associated with graduate level research, and presented with the overall final thesis paper expectations and timeline.

Creative Expressions in the Early Childhood Classroom

What better way to truly build a learning community that focuses on creativity, nature smart learners, and play-based initiatives than to be immersed in a highly interactive course taught by a team of talented individuals that allows you to fully explore artistic elements that can be integrated into education to include: Art, Music, Dance, Theatre, and more.

Developing the Early Childhood Learning Community

This hybrid-style introductory course will establish the necessity of establishing classroom communities focused on nature smart learning activities, storytelling, creative expressions, play-based learning, and developmentally appropriate practices. The course will set the foundation for all other courses and allow participants to experience these essential components of classroom communities in engaging and meaningful ways.

The Art of Inquiry: Action Research

Participants will work independently under the guidance of an EDU professor to establish an action research project to implement in their classrooms that encompasses the graduate research structure outlined in the “Art of Inquiry” text and connects back to the community of learners foundational text in a meaningful and impactful way.

Advanced Pedagogy and Methods in STEM Content

Math and science content classes merge into this exciting new course to produce teachers who are STEM knowledgeable and can create, manage, and assess Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math learning segments within their classroom communities.

Advance Reading and Writing Workshop Methods

EDU 536

This course will be taught through the workshop method so as to allow participants to experience a true workshop approach to teaching both Reading and Writing in a student-focused, community building way.

Stories Make the World

EDU 530

The focus of this course will focus on the use of stories to convey social studies content and to drive the curriculum. Participants will not only listen to and share personal narratives and stories but will combine with our undergraduate class to host a story telling festival.

Exploring Educational Venues

With an overall focus on building a united community of learners, participants will work together as a part of this class to plan and implement a group trip that revolves around a unified goal and purpose. Participants will reflect on the outcomes of the trip and the course and how they all connected for them throughout the 14 month program.

Hybrid format during the school year with 2 meetings per semester/per class • 2 week summer intensive on Wesleyan's campus includes a reading and writing workshop • 1 week culmination trip designed by your cohort in the second summer • All other work is done online • Tuition includes books and a trip to the renowned Ron Clark Academy

Tuition: $15,000 Includes tuition, textbooks, and educational trips including to the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta.
