Based on new guidelines that have been released by the CDC, Wesleyan College is updating our COVID-19 policies.

  • Due to the recent increase of COVID cases among those who are both vaccinated and unvaccinated, and due to the new CDC recommendations issued July 26, effective immediately, masks will be required in all public indoor spaces on the Wesleyan campus for all students, faculty, staff, contractors, and visitors.
  • We are not requiring social distancing, but encouraging it. Yoga mats, props and equipment are available to use with proper cleaning after use. We encourage members to bring their own.
  • We are closely monitoring the situation and will notify you immediately of any changes. Those who do not comply with this mandate will be asked to leave campus.

Please remember, that all of this could change. If the CDC issues new guidelines, we will follow those.

Reasons Exercise Makes You A Happier Person

Increased Dopamine

Dopamine is a chemical in the brain that's associated with feelings of pleasure and happiness.

Lower Anxiety

Recent studies have show that people who suffer from anxiety and depression can achieve long-term relief from exercising.

Lowers Depression

Energy Booster

Exercise is a wonderful energy booster, and more exercise equals increased levels of happiness

Stress Reducer

Stressed out? Exercise is a form of low-level stress itself, and the more you subject yourself to the "stress" of working out, the better your body will adapt to handling other kinds of stress.

Cognitive Decline

Unfortunately, the older we get, the less capable our brain functioning becomes. Studies have shown that regular exercise can help slow down that cognitive decline, aiding memory and learning in the process.

Self-Confidence

There's nothing quite like having an awesome workout and then feeling a great sense of accomplishment.

Be More Social

While all types of exercise are great for us, working out in groups is even better. Working out and being around friends generally makes us a happier bunch.

Get Better Sleep

Having sleep issues? Regular exercise has been show to improve the sleep quality of people with sleeping disorders.

Be More Creative

We're all in a better mood when our creative juices are flowing, and nothing boosts creativity quite like a great workout.
