🎯 Major Changes for 2025

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) was officially retired on January 10, 2024. No standardized test is required for most pharmacy programs beginning with the 2024-2025 admissions cycle.

What This Means:

  • GPA becomes more important - Your academic performance is now the primary academic metric
  • Experience matters more - Clinical and pharmacy experience carry greater weight
  • Holistic review - Schools emphasize well-rounded applications and personal qualities
  • Focus on prerequisites - Strong performance in required courses is essential

💊 What Do Pharmacists Do?

Pharmacists dispense medications prescribed by physicians and other health professionals while serving as medication experts. They must understand drug uses, clinical effects, and composition. Modern pharmacists also provide patient counseling, medication therapy management, immunizations, and health screenings. They work in retail pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and pharmaceutical companies.

🎯 Competitive Standards (Post-PCAT Era)

  • Minimum GPA: 3.5+ strongly recommended
  • Science GPA: 3.5+ with strong performance in prerequisite courses
