Arts Management

Using a special combination of business skills, arts and entertainment managers play a key role in bringing great performances, paintings, scripts, songs, and more to the public.

Arts management is an interdisciplinary major designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, experience, and confidence to become leaders in the fields of arts or entertainment management and other creative industries. Students will study the issues impacting the contemporary arts and cultural industries, develop business and managerial skills for professional decision-making, and practice creative and critical thinking. Students benefit from broad instruction of business models, managerial roles, and best practices that support and promote a variety of visual, performing, and media arts and artists.

In addition to this core, students will choose a track that will focus on a particular area of the arts offered at Wesleyan College. This major exemplifies the core of Wesleyan College’s mission to mentor students to become leaders in their field. Through learning how to support and market artists and art events, raise funds, manage finances, and develop programming for arts organizations, students will be prepared for a wide range of graduate programs and careers .

It enables students to become leaders and managers as they engage with organizations on and off campus. Students will be encouraged to engage in summer work at arts and cultural institutions, attend conferences in their area of study, and explore internship opportunities.
